Hi! I’m Abbey Sy – an artist, designer & author based in the Philippines. I manage my own personal brand Abbey Sy (ABC) as a freelance artist & designer (Type by ABC), workshop instructor (Learn by ABC) and creative entrepreneur (Made by ABC).
While I work full-time as an artist and entrepreneur, I also create my own content and supervise the overall operations of my business.
My love for lettering was an accidental encounter; but it’s always been a part of who I am, as I’ve been a constant fan of anything type-related, vintage, and hand-drawn.
I recently published my first book, The ABCs of Hand Lettering under Summit Books, which has become a bestseller. This also led me to create My Lettering Progress Keeper, a sketch / watercolor pad I produced in partnership with IFEX Paper Company.
I also published Letters from ABC, a box of alphabet postcards under Summit Books.
Some of my recent collaborations include Tropicana as an influencer, Faber-Castell as an ambassador & Havaianas as a designer for their limited edition Filipinas collection.
While I’ve always been working as a one-woman team, I’ve been blessed to be able to create and collaborate with friends / colleagues / clients, and operate at times with a dependable and hardworking team.
Pursuing a full on creative career was something I never expected to happen – and every day, I am constantly growing and learning as I go along. I’d like to think my passion for creating brought me to where I am now.
I’m passionate about art and travel, and my daily musings and adventures are chronicled through my blog and Instagram. My constant escape from being a Type A / go-getter is to travel and explore the world, one country at a time. I have this habit of traveling as often as I can, because I can never stay in one place. Traveling also keeps me inspired and helps me create new ideas.
I also love to illustrate and document my adventures while in transit. It’s become something I constantly do while I’m away.
Always on the constant lookout for the next project, I always keep in mind that with hard work and a bit of luck, opportunities are always there. And if there’s one thing I constantly believe in, it’s that good things come to those who work hard, hustle, and never give up on their dreams. :)
