I’ve been teaching workshops since last year, and while I feel like I’ve achieved the “teacher” status for hand lettering (technically, I’ve already poured out most of my learnings on my first book), there was still something missing from everything I’ve seen progress so far – which is why I took an indefinite break to sort things out.

(Okay, also, that break was for allowance – my weekends were always dedicated for workshops since January this year)

One realization that caused my robotic behavior at workshops is that I’ve been teaching the same lesson over and over again – I guess I memorize the topics by heart now, since it’s been injected into my DNA since I first decided to teach workshops. Given that, I felt that there has to be another way for me to reach out and share my passions to others.

I’ve been very blessed to have mentors and work with an amazing team to pull this off. This month, I’m relaunching Learn by ABC – bigger, better, and now with more classes. For August to September, I’m opening classes for Basic Hand Lettering (Firsts) and Advanced Hand Lettering (Seconds).

Learn by ABC is a series of workshops for creative spirits. These serve as an experiential avenue for the growth of participants who eventually discover their core passions, as well as a tipping point for those in need of that extra push in the right direction.

The journey always begins with a first step. Interested in hand lettering? Then this workshop is the best place to start learning. FIRSTS: A Basic Hand Lettering Workshop is the introductory course that teaches all the ABC’s and 123’s of the art and process of hand lettering derived from the original Learn by ABC curriculum. Click here for more information.

Step out of your comfort zone and try something new for a more fulfilling creative journey. Watercolor may seem daunting but it’s a fun discipline to master. Learn how to work and play with it, and see your lettering pieces come alive. Play with paint and palettes to pump up your creative juices in SECONDS: An Advanced Hand Lettering WorkshopClick here for more information.

I have to say, teaching has given me so much more meaning and reason to keep creating, innovating, and evolve as an artist. I’ve learned so much from my students, and it has and always will be a constant reminder of why I keep doing what I do – it’s to share it to people who need it.

I’m opening more classes (non-lettering, yes!) this coming quarter and I’ll let you know more about it soon. Hint – it’s for the love of travel. :)
