Ever since 2015 started, I’ve always prioritized my weekends for workshops – and it’s been an integral part of who I am & what I do. For me, educating others about the art of drawing letters has enabled me to share my passion to those who are interested in the craft – and I feel that it’s one of the things that makes me fulfilled as an artist and person.
I’ve been teaching basic hand lettering for more than two years already, and revamping it every so often has made it much more dynamic and at the same time, easier for students to dabble into the field. Earlier this year, my team & I relaunched Learn by ABC (view the project on Behance here), and we’ve made it more exciting for the participants this time around.
Well, obviously because we’ve produced boxes for the kits. Yay for packaging!
My former intern, Katsy, designed the logo (with my hand type on it). Here’s a fun fact: that’s actually a compass — because what we aim for Learn by ABC is to (hopefully) take you to the right direction of learning lettering through the workshops. :)
Apart from the Hand Lettering Guidebook provided, I included a no-frills hand lettering cheat sheet where students can easily understand the quick 5-step process to producing your own original hand lettered piece.
All workshops are hands on as well – I try my best to check on everyone’s progress throughout the 3-hour class. Most of my students experience lettering for the first time during my workshops, so I make sure they don’t get intimidated to practice and work on their skills.
I’ve also included an original dotted sketch pad as part of the kit so students can further practice after class. The goal of the workshop is always to keep on improving and start a good habit of hand lettering every so often – and make it a fun activity to those who find meaning in it. :) Alternatively, if you attend Seconds, the second workshop (you don’t say…haha) after Firsts – aka an introduction to watercolor lettering, you’ll get to receive a watercolor pad + set of watercolors as part of the kit. Craftdoodle is also giving away aqua brushes for my last workshop this December for 2015.
For those of you who are interested to learn the basics of lettering, a bit of history, and the technicalities that come with it – this class is for you. Check out the class schedules this November for Firsts: A Basic Hand Lettering Workshop. Sign up + know more about it here. Last two sessions for 2015, so I hope to see you there!
In case you’re interested to join my other workshops, all class schedules can be found here.
Hope to see you soon!
